Travel Diary: New Orleans 2016

2.08.2016

One of my 2016 resolutions was to try to travel more, we all work so darn hard so why not enjoy life by going on fun vacations. A few months back Keven and I decided to look for a inexpensive but fun trip to go on. Keven has been stressed/busy with school/work and I honestly needed to get away from work, as some of you may know my job is extremely stressful, we just needed to get away and enjoy life away from Boston. Tickets were extremely inexpensive to New Orleans for 5 days so Keven, my brother, his girlfriend and I decided to book our trip there, even though we all have been there, we all really enjoyed it, so why not go back. If you haven’t been to New Orleans, you should add it to your bucket list, trust me you won’t regret it.

People in nola are extremely friendly, you are able to walk to so many places, there are fun street cars you can hop on and see the city, live jazz music and let’s be honest the food is to another level. We explored and ate so much on this trip but that was one of the main reasons why we decided to come back, southern food is seriously AMAZING! **Tip when traveling, do research before traveling and look for places you want to eat and things you want to see/do. I was so lucky my brother’s girlfriend was like me, we both made lists and we didn’t waste any time in nola, because we had a plan. One thing I hate is wasting time on vacation, time is precious!

We had no idea Mardi Gras was celebrated the entire month, we thought it was just a one week thing, the kick off parade was that Wednesday and we were so lucky to experience it. It was so much fun, we all grabbed a drink from this street vendor call “Congo Bongo” and found a spot where we would be able to see the parade. There were so many people out, different food/drink vendors, and so much more. The parade started at 6:45pm and didn’t end til around midnight, insane!!!

We seriously had so much fun in nola, we were lucky and had a few days in the high 70’s, now we are back in Boston in this cold snowy winter weather!

Here are some pic’s from my trip, follow me on instagram (ninalnguyen) to see more!
