SUMMER 2020

8.02.2020

Ahh hello my loves! How are you all? I've been missing posting blog posts so much but life the past few months has been such a rollercoaster. Where do I start lol Work has been really tough for me, as I work in the hospital and although I'm not working directly with patients, the behind the scenes has been extremely exhausting. Things have finally slowed down a bit but I'm nervous that the second wave might be coming. Everyday life has been quite different, weird and challenging. Wearing a mask is the new normal but honestly I cannot wait until the day we no longer have to wear it.

Summer has flown by so we are just trying to come up with fun things to do within New England since we don't feel safe traveling. Kudos to those who have traveled, ya'll are brave! We went to Maine for the day with my brother and his wife last weekend. We went up to Old Orchard Beach which was so nice! Beach days are my fav! We got their super early and by the time we left was when the beach got crowded. The sun felt so good on the skin but as always I got burnt! Not fun!! After the beach we drove to Portland, ME and walked around. Portland is such a cute little city. We grabbed some lobster rolls because hello its summer and having a lobster roll is a must. Their lobster rolls were so yummy! We went to The Highroller Lobster Co which I highly recommend. Also if you're a donut lover stop by The Holy Donut. Keven was in heaven. He's a huge donut lover and regretted not getting a dozen donuts to go lol

We took off Thursday and Friday this past week and planned a few day trips. It's crazy that during this weird time it has opened our eyes to explore local areas that we never really thought to. We went to Providence, RI on Thursday. We walked around, shopped a little and grabbed some food. We ate these delicious sliders from Harry's Bar & Burger. Probably my 2nd fav sliders I've ever had. Then on Friday we spent the day in Rockport, MA. If your ever in Massachusetts definitely visit Rockport. The view of the harbor with the boats was beautiful and the little town itself was the cutest. After we explored Rockport we went to Woodmans of Essex and had a yummy fried seafood plate and coleslaw. Another great place that I recommend, the seafood tasted so fresh!

Saturday was probably my favorite day trip of them all. We got up super early and hit the road to Newport, RI. It was about an 1 1/2 drive from our house. I've heard Newport was beautiful and that we had to visit and boy were they right. We started the day by doing the cliff walk. Wow the view while walking through the cliff was insanely beautiful. Hearing the sound of the water was so relaxing. The mansions were crazy beautiful and to think that people actually lived there. We walked down Bellevue Avenue, Thames Street and walked around the Waterfront. The weather was perfect for a day in Newport, super sunny and it wasn't humid. With all that walking we were craving some ice cream so we stopped by Kilwin and they didn't disappoint. After all the exploring we did, our tummies were rumbling. Winner Winner was on my list to grab food. We got some good ole fried chicken and biscuits. The 40minute wait was totally worth it. I loved that everything was made as ordered so everything was fresh. Best fried chicken, the flavor was on point and the biscuit was so yummy! So happy we got to spend the day in Newport!

These days trips were fun and all but a week long vaca in a tropical island is much needed, hopefully soon! We're definitely having major wanderlust, anyone else? We are enjoying the summer as much as we can while staying safe. Hope you're all doing well and let me know what you have been up to this summer. xo

P.S. Make sure to follow me on Instagram to see what I am up to as I post on IG stories often. Also I saved our summer adventures under the highlights section :)

  1. I can't imagine how unnerving it must be working in a hospital even without having direct patient contacts. It sounds like you had a lovely vacation while managing to stay in New England. Best wishes for the rest of your August, summer, and beyond.

  5. This looks like all the perfect summery fun! As challenging as this time has been, and how sad I've been that we can't travel far right now - it's been a blessing in disguise to explore more of what is right around us. Growing up in Connecticut, one of my favorite summer day trips was taking the ferry to Block Island.

  10. Working at a hospital must be so stressful right now, regardless of the role. I'm with you on the travel, definitely not brave enough for that. It's a shame because it doesn't look like I'm getting a trip this year now. It sounds like you've had some fun days out though x

  18. Yes I can imagine working in the healthcare industry is quite challenging during these times. But the upside is that you are discovering some nice places close by. And at least you are doing your best at work and to enjoy the summer.
