TRAVEL DIARY: CHICAGO 2021

 

Happy Monday everyone! We just visited Chicago this past week and Keven and I were asking ourselves why it took us so long to visit. We absolutely LOVED it there! As ya'll know we are huge city people and Chicago is now one of our favorite cities. It was so beautiful, very clean and just great vibes. I couldn't believe how beautiful the water was. We were there for a day in a half so we saw as much as we could. Chicago is a very walkable city. We walked everywhere and took an Uber twice since the deep dish pizza place we wanted to try was just a little too far out of the city. We stayed in the financial district which was fine but next time I would stay somewhere more centralized. I loved everything we saw in Chicago but I think my favorite part was the Navy Pier. 

Places we saw

Navy Pier- What a beautiful area in Chicago! Loved the city skyline as well as Lake Michigan. 

Chicago Riverwalk- If you like a scenic route the riverwalk is a must. Next time I would love to cruise the riverwalk in a boat.

Millennium Park & The Bean- Great park and such a cool a cool sculpture! 

The Chicago Theatre- Iconic sign, must see! Beautiful during the day and night.

The Chicago Art Institute- Sad we didn't get to go inside and check it out due to timing but definitely next time!

Magnificent Mile- If you want to shop or even window shop definitely check it out.

Places we ate at

Portillo's- We had to try a Chicago style hotdog. We were pretty skeptical because of the toppings but surprisingly it was actually really good!

Pequod's Pizza- We really liked their deep dish. The caramelized crust was great and the sauce had flavor. It wasn't ginormous, it was perfect for two people. 

Au Cheval- Such a popular burger joint and we had a few friends that recommended this place. It was an hour wait but totally worth it- burger was so delish! I highly recommend trying this place out. The only thing is you cannot make a reservation. You have to go to the restaurant and get in line to put your name on the list then wait until your table is ready.

Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe- If you're a pancake lover come here!! The signature berry bliss pancakes are probably the best pancakes I've ever had in my life. They were thin but fluffy and the vanilla anglaise, blackberry coulis, berry mascarpone, & fresh berries is what made it so delish!!

Do-Rite Donuts & Chicken- They are know for their donuts and chicken sandwiches.

Venteux Brasserie, Cafe & Oyster Bar- We came here for some yummy french pastries.

Garrett Popcorn- If you're a popcorn lover this is a must! It's bougie popcorn but totally worth it. We got the cheddar and caramel mix and OMG, yum!

                                       

We are already wanting to go back! Hopefully next year we can visit again and get to see things we weren't able to see and of course try out other yummy food places. Have you been to Chicago? If so what was your favorite part or a place you recommend to eat? Would love to hear!
